BEN VENOM

Bio:

Ben Venom graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007 with a Master of Fine Arts degree. His work has been shown both nationally and internationally including the Levi Strauss Museum (Germany), National Folk Museum of Korea, HPGRP Gallery (Tokyo), Fort Wayne Museum, Charlotte Fogh Gallery (Denmark), Taubman Museum of Art, Gregg Museum of Art and Design, and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. He has been interviewed by NPR: All Things Considered, Playboy, Juxtapoz Magazine, KQED, Maxim, and CBS Sunday Morning. Venom has lectured at the California College of Arts, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Midlands Art Centre, Humboldt State University, Oregon College of Art and Craft, and Adidas. Recently, he was the artist in residence at MASS MoCA and the de Young Museum. Ben Venom lives and works in San Francisco, CA.

SARAH A. SMITH

Bio:

Sarah A. Smith’s loose, lively animal illustrations are drawn directly from objects she saw during long days spent at the museum strolling around the decorative arts section.  Her whimsical ink drawings are reproduced here on colorful papers bringing a fun, cheerful mood to accompany your special gift. Sarah A. Smith lives and works in San Francisco, CA.

KIERAN COLLINS

Bio:

Kieran Collins is an interdisciplinary artist whose process-oriented work explores mark-making, color and textural design. Her recent project, Pistil & Mortar, was born out of a period of isolation during the COVID pandemic. The concrete sculptures and art objects are handmade from industrial materials, refuse and everyday objects she collected while sheltering in place on her mother’s farm in Southern Oregon. Kieran received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Fine Arts concentration from Amherst College, and her Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University. The artist lives and works in San Francisco, California.

CHRIS THORSON

Bio:

Chris Thorson’s work has been featured in exhibitions at Quint Gallery in San Diego, Ampersand International Arts in San Francisco, the Hessel Museum at Bard College; the Des Lee Gallery at Washington University in St. Louis; the Fine Arts Gallery at San Francisco State University; the Headlands Center for the Arts; and the Chico Art Center, among many others. Her work has been reviewed in The San Francisco Chronicle, The Riverfront Times, Art Practical, KQED, and SFAQ. She received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MFA at San Francisco Art Institute. She lives and works in Vallejo, CA.

ANDY VOGT

Bio:

Andy Vogt grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC and attended Carnegie Mellon University where he earned a BFA in Intermedia, a program focused on time based media, performance and installation. He lived in Pittsburgh PA until 2000.

His current work using reclaimed wood from demolished buildings, started around 2004, a few years after moving to San Francisco. Since then, his work has been exhibited in the US and Europe including solo shows at Eli Ridgway Gallery, Eleanor Harwood Gallery, Southern Exposure, The Museum of Craft and Design and Ampersand International Arts. Group exhibitions include Saarländisches Kunstlerhaus, Saarbrücken Germany. Bay area group shows include, Johansson Projects, Round Weather, Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco State University Art Gallery, Swarm Gallery and Adobe Books Backroom Gallery. He also was an artist in residence at Headlands Center for the Arts. Andy lives and works in San Francisco, California

XIMAPS

Bio:

Ximaps Dong is a Queer Chinese-American interdisciplinary artist. Through their art, they seek to distill the everyday into abstracted patterned space. Ximaps received their BA in Art History with a concentration in Studio Art from San Francisco State University.

Utilizing several art forms including ceramics, paintings, wood-working, and sculpture, Ximaps’ artistic process channels the anxieties and pressures wrought by power structures into playful works that seek to replace them with community, grounding, humor, and wellbeing.

MAISON TENN20

Bio:

Founded in 1972 Maison Tenn20, formally Sophia’s Drapery Workroom, is located in San Francisco's historic Dogpatch neighborhood. The custom workroom specializes in draperies and soft furnishings for residential and hospitality projects.

JOE FERRISO

Bio:

Joe Ferriso grew up in Long Island, New York. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003 from The Cooper Union and his Master of Fine Arts in 2018 from Stanford University. From 2010 to 2015, he co-founded and worked at Anzfer Farms, an experimental furniture studio. Ferriso’s artwork is primarily concerned with color relationships as they relate to our built environment, taking inspiration from Sea Ranch, California where he lives with his wife, daughter, and scruffy dog.

CAND-O-LEE

Bio:

CAND-O-LEE Richly Scented Candles was created out of a love for candles and all things cozy.

In 2020, what started out as a hobby making hand poured candles in their spare time has turned into a full time business. Orlando pours the candles, Ricardo designs/manages the brand in the heart of the Mission District. One Candle, turned into two, turned into ten candles, to just recently, celebrating their first year in business.

CHARLENE TAN

Bio:

Charlene Tan is an artist who lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born in Houston, Texas she spent most of her childhood in the Philippines only to return to San Francisco to begin her education. Her work has been shown at Intersection for the Arts, Marin Headlands Center for the Arts, [2nd floor projects], ampersand international arts, and Southern Exposure among other spaces. Her practice is diverse ranging from sculpture to performance, investigating topics on assimilation, consumer culture, digital loss of imagery via facsimile, and post-colonial immigrant diaspora.

ALAN MIKNIS

Bio:

Alan Miknis lives and works in San Francisco’s Mission District. He is currently working on the “Trash Series”, “Middle Americana”, and compositions for the “PetZine” series. He has exhibited in solo and group shows in San Francisco, Detroit, and throughout the state of Georgia. Miknis grew up in rural Georgia and has a BFA in painting from Georgia SouthWestern State University.
